Obituary: Peter ‘Pete’ Ward Sr., 76; Formerly Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Peter “Pete” Ward Sr., 76, of Sarasota Florida, beloved husband of the late Linda (Steele) Ward, died on Friday, January 12, 2024, in Sarasota Florida.

He was born on January 16, 1947, in Stratford Upon Avon, England, son of the late Albert Hayward Ward and Ivy (Spires) Ward.

Pete was educated at Alcester Grammar School in England and was longtime resident of Wallingford before moving to Florida. He was employed for over 20 years at Marlin Firearms, North Haven, as a Polisher, retiring in 2015. He enjoyed spending time with friends at Grand Central Sports Bar in Wallingford.

He was an avid soccer fan. He especially enjoyed being in the company of his children and grandchildren.

Pete is survived by his two sons, Peter Ward Jr. and his wife, Alyssa of Florida, and John Christopher Ward of Connecticut, and his three grandchildren; Emmelyn Rose Ward, John Christopher Ward Jr., and Addison Elizabeth Ward. He was predeceased by his wife Linda (Steele) Ward; his parents Albert Hayward Ward, and Ivy Spires; and a brother John Ward.

The Ward family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., Wallingford, on Tuesday, February 6, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. A funeral service will be in the funeral home with Reverand Dean Warburton at 11:00 a.m. Interment and graveside service will follow at 1p.m. in St. Mary’s Cemetery 74 Gulf Street, Milford, CT.
