Obituary: Robert E. Decker II, 44, Of Wallingford

A Sheehan High School graduate, he worked as a carman for Metro North Railroad and later as a welder in the construction field.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From North Haven Funeral Home): Robert E. Decker II, 44, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 5, 2023, at Connecticut Hospice, Branford with his family by his side.

Robert was born in New Haven on September 21, 1978, and was the son of Robert E. Decker Jr. and the late Christina Malerba Decker. In addition to his father Robert, he is survived by his grandmother Marjorie Decker, sister Rachel Decker (Stephen Godfrey), and brothers, Joseph Decker (Jessica), and Rocco Decker. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Robert grew up in Wallingford and graduated from Sheehan High School. After graduation, he worked as a carman for Metro North Railroad and later as a welder in the construction field.

His greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends, joking around and making people laugh. He was always the first person to lend a helping hand when needed. He had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed working on landscaping projects and hanging out by his pool. He also had a passion for auto racing, building and working on Volkswagen cars, and attending car shows.

Robert especially loved spending time with his niece and nephews, and truly loved them all unconditionally.

The visiting hours will be on Tuesday, Jan. 10, at The Havens Family North Haven Funeral Home, 36 Washington Avenue from 4 to 7 p.m. A service will be conducted in the funeral home on Wednesday morning, Jan. 11 at 10:30. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
