Obituary: Ruth B. Fredericks, 89, Of Wallingford

Ruth worked as a customer service operator for United Illuminating. She enjoyed many years with the Wallingford Garden Club.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Ruth B. Fredericks, 89, of Ashlar Village, wife of the late Albert Fredericks, passed away September 7, 2022 at Ashlar Village.

Ruth was born in New Haven on April 2, 1933, a daughter of the late Carl and Bertha (Ennis) Brown.

Prior to her retirement Ruth worked as a customer service operator for United Illuminating. Ruth, while starting a family in Wallingford, enjoyed many years with the Wallingford Garden Club. She was equally interested in knitting. She was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed watching UConn basketball. She enjoyed relaxing at the shoreline or spending time at her library.

However, her greatest joy came from watching her three grandchildren grow and start their families.

Ruth is survived by her son, Gary Fredericks and his wife, Elizabeth, of Middletown; her grandchildren, Leah Sousa and her husband, Peter, Kristen Bartunek and her husband, Steve and Alison Frost and her husband, Greg; her great grandchildren, William, Dylan, Avery and Casey and her daughter-in-law, Ellen Fredericks. She was predeceased by her son, Thomas Fredericks, sisters Ella Sussmann and Ruby Jordan and brother Carl Brown, Jr.

A private graveside service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 20, 2022, at the In Memoriam Cemetery in Wallingford. Arrangements are under the direction of The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext., Wallingford. In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory can be made to the Masonic Charity Foundation of Connecticut, P.O. Box 70, Wallingford, CT 06492.
