Obituary: Sherri E. Galligan, 48, Of Wallingford

Sherri worked as a paraprofessional at E.C. Stevens Elementary School in Wallingford, where she recently won "Para of the Year" for 2022.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Sherri E. Galligan, 48, of Wallingford, cherished wife of Shawn Galligan and beloved mother of Brady and Lainey Galligan, passed away on Sunday, May 1, 2022 at Midstate Medical Center. She was born in Worcester, MA on January 24, 1974, a daughter of Elizabeth (Mastro) Casello and the late James Casello.

She attended Quinnipiac University where she met and fell in love with Shawn. The couple married in 2002; they made their home and began their family in Wallingford.

Sherri loved children and was planning to obtain her Master’s degree in education. She worked as a paraprofessional in the Wallingford Public School system and had been employed at E.C. Stevens Elementary School where she recently won “Para of the Year” for 2022.

Sherri loved the beach and enjoyed crafting with her Cricut machine, but above all, she loved spending time with her family. A dedicated dance mom, she was heavily involved in all of her children’s activities.

Sherri is survived by her husband, Shawn and her children, Brady and Lainey, all of Wallingford; her mother, Elizabeth Casello of Worcester, MA; her brother, Christopher Casello of Sutton, MA; her life-long best friend, Ellen Casey of Leicester, MA; her mother-in-law, Susan Ipbach of Clinton, CT; and her loyal dogs, Nala and Lucy; as well as numerous extended family members and beloved friends. She was predeceased by her father, James Casello.

Sherri’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Saturday, May 7 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. A funeral service and celebration of her life will begin at 5 p.m. Interment will be private.
