Obituary: Sheryl Elizabeth Lanahan, 71, Of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From B.C. Bailey Funeral Home): Sheryl Elizabeth Lanahan, a beloved mother of six children and a lifetime caregiver to so many passed peacefully on Saturday evening after a brief illness.

She was a dedicated nurse for over 50 years and a well-known face in the community. She devoted her life to helping those in need of medical assistance, no matter what time of the day or night.

She was a mother not only to her six children, but also to her eight younger brothers. She is survived by her husband Robert Lanahan; her eldest daughter. Michelle Mele, and her daughter: Elycia DeLaurentis; her eldest son, Shane Esposito and his two children: Gabrielle and Jacob; her son Larry M. Esposito, his wife Cheryl Esposito, and their three children: Hayden, Cooper and Molly; her daughter-in-law Gina Barbiuto, and her daughter: Gia Esposito; her daughter, Ashlee Esposito; and her son, Patrick Lanahan. She was predeceased by her son, Chris Esposito, who we all know descended on eagles wings to shuttle her to her rightful place in heaven.

She was the matriarch, life and blood of her family and will be dearly missed.

The family will receive friends and visitors on Saturday, Jan. 27 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at B.C. Bailey Funeral Home, 273 S. Elm St., Wallingford. It is suggested that contributions in her memory be directed to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital.
