Obituary: Stephen L. Page, 74, Of Wallingford
A member of the Lyman Hall High School Hall of Fame, he was a longtime teacher and coach at the school and was a standout athlete at SCSU.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Stephen L. Page, 74, of Wallingford, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on May 20, 2023. He is now reunited with his beloved wife Sharyn, who predeceased him on April 23, 2023.
Born in West Springfield, MA on February 28, 1949, Steve was the son of the late Charles and Shirley (Lindsay) Page. Steve spent his early years in Milton, MA before moving with his family to Wallingford.
Steve was a standout athlete at Lyman Hall High School- both as a power hitting third baseman and captain of the baseball team and a forceful defender for the soccer team.

Steve continued his athletic career at Southern Connecticut State University where he was a three-year starter with a lifetime batting average over .300 and was named captain and MVP his senior year.
After graduation, he returned to his high school alma mater as a teacher and coach, most notably leading the soccer team as head coach for 8 seasons.

Steve retired in 2006 after 35 years and is a proud member of the 2003 Hall of Fame Class.
Even in his leisure time, Steve was a competitor. He was an avid golfer and threw a mean game of darts. He and Sharyn loved to travel and visited Las Vegas and St. Kitts often. Steve also loved to fish and would happily take anyone who wanted to go and show them how to tie on a fly.
Steve is survived by his children, Richard Crane and his wife, Jill, of New London, Marie Kearns of Warwick, RI, Seth Page of Wallingford; his sister Susan Page of Wallingford; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; and numerous extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents and his wife, Steve was predeceased by his nephew, Kevin Hecklinger.
Stephen’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Tuesday, May 30 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a memorial service and celebration of Steve’s life at 7 p.m. Burial in Gethsemane Cemetery will be held privately.
