WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Susan Diane (Hayden) Lopes, 71, of Wallingford, passed away on Monday, July 25, 2022 at Midstate Medical Center after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Born on August 4, 1950, she was the daughter of the late Wendell and Barbara (Kuster) Hayden.

A hard-working woman, Sue worked for the state of Connecticut for many years. She was known to be incredibly kind, compassionate and loving, but was also known to be sarcastic and quick-witted. She loved animals and the beauty of nature, but her greatest joy in life was her family; she was very proud of her children and cherished her grandbabies. She lived most of her life caring for others and never wanted anyone to fuss over her, even after her health declined.

Sue is survived by her beloved son, Anthony Lopes and his wife, Van Dang of Wallingford; her beloved daughter, Theresa Lopes and her fiancé, Jeff Santora of Thomaston; her cherished granddaughters, Vera, Victoria and Bianca; her sisters, Shelly Wilkerson and her husband, John and Nancy Hux and her husband, Larry; along with many extended family members and friends.
