Obituary: Timothy Gerard O’Rourke, 74, Of Wallingford

Tim served in the U.S. Marine Corps and then became a police officer with the Middletown Police Department, retiring as a detective.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): Timothy Gerard O’Rourke, 74, of Wallingford, loving husband of Doreen (Ahearn) O’Rourke, passed away peacefully after a brief illness on December 27, 2023 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain surrounded by family.

Tim was born in Middletown on May 26, 1949, a son of the late Bernard and Esther (Rossi) O’Rourke.

Tim served in the United States Marine Corps and then became a police officer with the Middletown Police Department, serving with the department until he retired as a detective. He was a true supporter of the blue!

Tim was an avid fan of professional soccer, Red Sox, and Irish music; often enjoying all three at the same time. He was a generous man and deeply devoted to his family, especially his wife whom he worshipped and adored. Tim also took on the role as coach to his children's sports teams and despite the long hours he worked, he never missed a game.

In addition to his wife, Doreen, he is survived by his daughters, Shannon McDonnell and her husband, David; and Eileen DiFilippo and her husband, Carlo; his son, Timothy O’Rourke Jr and his wife Diana; his twin sister, Maureen Maley; his brothers, Brian, Richard and Terrence O’Rourke; his grandchildren, Maura and Riley McDonnell, Addison and Jack DiFilippo, and Bronagh, Kateri, Josephine, Brogan and Hildagard O’Rourke; and many nieces and nephews.
