Obituary: William ‘Bill’ Wing, 62, Of Wallingford

Bill, known for his vibrant personality & infectious sense of humor, successfully ran Wing's Cleaning Co alongside his cousin & dear friend.

WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): William “Bill” Wing, 62, of Wallingford, passed away on March 6, 2024, peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones after his courageous battle with ALS.

Bill is survived by his devoted wife, Susan Wing, and his cherished daughters, Amanda Gasior (Chris) and Maegan Wing (John Ford). He had so much love for his sisters, Brenda Drew (Chris) and Sharon Chester (Tim), as well as his nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, Robert Wing, his mother, Nancy Clark Wing-Brockett, and his nephew, Daniel Wing.

Married for almost 34 years, Bill and Susan built their life in Wallingford, raising their daughters with love and care. For many years, he successfully ran Wing’s Cleaning Co alongside his cousin Billy Fragola and dear friend Peter Phelan until his battle with ALS necessitated him stepping away from work.

Bill was known for his vibrant personality and infectious sense of humor. He loved trips up to Lake Winnipesaukee and listening to James Taylor. He was the life of the party, eagerly hosting friends and family for the annual Fourth of July celebrations and the annual Wing Fling with his boys.

Even in the face of adversity, Bill remained positive, often lightening the mood with his jokes and laughter. He will be fondly remembered for his love of beer, pizza, his sneaker collection, and bringing joy to those around him.

Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Tuesday, March 12, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A celebration of Bill’s life will be in the funeral Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, donations to: ALS United Connecticut (www.als.org/support/states/connecticut) would be greatly appreciated in honor of Bill’s memory.
