WALLINGFORD, CT — (From Wallingford Funeral Home): William G. Mahon, 88, of Wallingford, entered eternal rest on Monday, November 21, 2022. He was the beloved husband of Arden (Pearl) Mahon of 63 years.

Bill was born in New Haven, CT on December 15, 1933, the son of the late Alfred E. and Helen (Aiello) Mahon. He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran. Bill worked in sales until his retirement.

Bill’s family and friends will remember him best for his sweet nature, his great sense of humor and his love of sports. After leaving the Army, Bill pursued his degree in Business at Quinnipiac University and there he met the love of his life, Arden in an English class sitting across from each other. They fell in love and were married on September 5, 1959, at Trinity Church on the Green in New Haven, CT. Together, they enjoyed raising their two children in Wallingford.

As a young male, he excelled in sports and was a natural at baseball where he made it to the Minor Leagues. Bill was also an ace golfer and passed the love of the links to his son Billy. As mentioned, Bill started skating at the age of 8, where he was a “rink rat” in New Haven.

The love of the ice led him to play hockey until the age of 83! Bill played in numerous leagues, and was known for his Friday night get togethers with all the guys. He was an avid fan of the N.Y. Rangers. Bill loved getting together with his daughter, enjoying lunches, their heart-to-heart chats, and many laughs.
