Pedestrian Struck, Killed By Vehicle In Wallingford: Police

The pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle on Monday night, according to police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A pedestrian was struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night in Wallingford, according to police.

Police responded to Old Colony Road around 9 p.m. after a pedestrian had been struck.

Arriving officers found a woman around 45 to 55 years old with severe injuries, according to Sgt. Stephen Jaques. She was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital where she was pronounced dead, Jaques said.

The woman’s identity is currently unknown, Jaques said.

There have been no criminal charges filed in connection with the crash as of this time, according to Jaques.

Jaques said an investigation found that a 2020 Mazda CX-30 was traveling southbound on Old Colony Road when the driver struck a pedestrian who was in a dimly lit section of the southbound travel lane.

The driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with police, according to Jaques.

Jaques said speed didn’t seem to a factor in the collision, and the driver wasn’t suspected to be under the influence of any drug or alcohol.
