Pedestrian Struck, Killed While Crossing The Street In Wallingford: UPDATE
The woman was hit by a car while crossing the street on Monday morning.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A 66-year-old woman was killed after being struck by a car while crossing the street in Wallingford on Monday morning, according to police. Wallingford Police have identified the victim as Mary Stabile, a Wallingford resident, who was crossing Quinnipiac Street near the intersection of South Cherry Street at about 6:30 a.m.
Police said the investigation, which is ongoing, revealed that Stabile was struck by a gray 2000 Honda Accord, driven by a 34-year-old Wallingford resident who was traveling eastbound on Quinnipiac Street. The preliminary investigation revealed that Stabile was not in a nearby crosswalk at the time she was struck, according to Lt. Anthony DeMaio. The crosswalk is equipped with a pedestrian pedestal signal light and button.
DeMaio said that the section of Quinnipiac Street is prone to having a brief period of sun glare at the time the accident occurred that affects visibility for eastbound traffic and may have contributed to the driver’s inability to see Stabile in the roadway.
