Pianist Peter Toth with Wallingford Symphony, April 8, 2:00
Winners of Elizabeth Mitchell Family Fund String Concerto Competition also featured at Paul Mellon Arts Center, Choate Rosemary Hall

Hungarian pianist Peter Toth, winner of many international competitions, will be the featured soloist at the Wallingford Symphony Orchestra’s spring concert on Sunday, April 8 at 2 p.m. in the Paul Mellon Art Center, Choate Rosemary Hall.
Kayla Bryant of Guilford and Julian Shively of Trumbull, winners of the Elizabeth Mitchell Family Fund String Concerto Competition sponsored by WSO, will also solo under the baton of Philip T. Ventre, musical director. “Kayla and Julian are two of the best winners ever,” according to Ventre.
Peter Toth has performed in concert in 17 countries and won many prestigious competitions including the American Paderewski Competition and the Franz Liszt International Piano Competition. He will play Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 in G Major with the WSO. A resident of the U.S. since 2009, Toth holds a doctorate from the University of Texas and is a member of the piano faculties at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, and Fairleigh Dickinson University.

Julian Shively will play, on violoncello, the second movement of Prokofiev’s Sinfonia Concertante. Julian began playing piano at age 4 and the cello a year later. He has continued his studies of both, switching to jazz on the piano. He has been a soloist with the Danbury Symphony, Greater New Haven Youth Ensembles and the Greater Bridgeport Symphony.
Kayla Bryan, who began her violin training at age 4 in the Hartt School Community Division, will perform the first movement of Tchaikovsky’s Concerto for Violin in D Major. She has won several concerto competitions and currently performs with the Guilford High School Symphony and the Connecticut Youth Symphony.
