Pond Hill Elementary School Students 'Give Back'

Wallingford students complete Kids Give Back, donate $600 in groceries to a nearby food bank.

Kids Give Back

Students from Pond Hill Elementary School in Wallingford, CT have just completed a special program called Kids Give Back on behalf of Peapod, donating $600 in groceries to a nearby food bank in advance of the holidays.

Peapod’s Kids Give Back Program is designed to teach students about nutrition, shopping on a budget, and how to use this knowledge to give back to local food banks. Peapod.com, the country’s leading online grocer, challenged the six participating classrooms to use a $600 donation from Peapod to create a delivery order of the most nutritious foods possible. The students used nutrition and budgeting lessons to put together a complete Peapod.com order that they later helped unload from a Peapod delivery truck at Master’s Manna in advance of the holidays.

Leading up to this event, a representative from local food pantry Master’s Manna also visited the six classrooms at Pond Hill School to speak to the students about food insecurity and the ways the community can help neighbors in need in partnership with the pantry.
