Purses Stolen At Walmart, BJ’s Within Minutes In Wallingford: Police

Two women's purses were stolen at Walmart and BJ's in Wallingford within minutes of each other, according to police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Police are investigating after two women’s purses were stolen at Walmart and BJ’s within minutes of each other Wednesday afternoon in Wallingford.

The first purse-snatching took place at Walmart, 844 North Colony Rd., around 1:30 p.m. on Jan. 17, and the second one took place minutes later at BJ’s, 1046 North Colony Rd., according to Officer Alex Torres.

Torres said both victims were women who weren’t injured.

Both victims told police that they had their purse in the passenger seat, according to Torres.

A man with black gloves snatched the purse at Walmart, and a woman with black gloves stole the purse at BJ’s, Torres said.

Both suspects left the scene in a black Subaru sedan, according to Torres.

“We urge all citizens to lock vehicle doors immediately after exiting,” Torres said in an email to Patch. “Link credit cards to smartphone to limit items in purse or wallet. Use services such as curbside pickup.”
