Road Closure Announced For Railroad Project In Wallingford

Police are advising motorists of an upcoming road closure that will be in effect for the replacement of railroad tracks in Wallingford.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford police are advising residents of an upcoming road closure that will be in effect for the replacement of railroad tracks on Pond Hill Road.

The closure will be in effect from Sunday, Oct. 8 through Monday, Oct. 9, according to police.

Police said Pond Hill Road between Pond Hill Elementary School and Roxbury Lane will be closed to allow for the work to be completed.

The Wallingford Traffic Division and the Town of Wallingford Department of Engineering have worked to establish a detour route.

  • Location: Pond Hill Road between Pond Hill Elementary School and Roxbury Lane
  • Dates: Sunday October 8th through Monday October 9th
  • All traffic will utilize Pond Hill Road, Harrison Road, and Quigley Road

Motorists and pedestrians alike are urged to take note when following the detour routes over other nearby railroad crossings:

  • A round, yellow sign displaying “RXR” means there is a railroad crossing up ahead.
  • Flashing red warning lights and lowered crossing gates mean the road is CLOSED.
  • At crossings with STOP signs – be sure to stop before the white stop line, then look and listen for approaching trains when deciding whether it’s safe to cross.
  • The Pond Hill Road crossing is CLOSED to all traffic – vehicular and pedestrian – for the duration of the project.
