Road Closure Announced In Wallingford

Police are advising residents of a road closure and parking restrictions that will be in effect for a Wallingford 250 celebration event.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford police are advising residents of the following road closure and parking restrictions that will be in effect for the town’s Powder House Day celebration on Saturday, April 25.

South Main Street, between the intersection of Ward Street and Prince Street will be closed starting at 9:30 a.m. and will remain closed until approximately 10:30 a.m.

South Main Street, between the intersection of Center Street and Prince Street will be closed starting at 10 a.m. and will remain closed until approximately 12 noon.

“Parking restrictions will be in effect on South Main Street in advance of and throughout the duration of the event,” police wrote in a news release. “All restrictions will be clearly posted.”

The Powder House event is part of Wallingford’s America 250 celebration.

“Join the Wallingford Historical Society for Powder House Day and experience history come alive. In April 1775, as the Lexington Alarm spread across Connecticut, 101 Wallingford men answered the call and marched toward Boston in support of the American Revolution,” reads a description on the Wallingford 250 Facebook page. “Watch the dramatic reenactment featuring the 2nd Company Governor’s Foot Guard as they march from the Parsons’ House to the Congregational Church for a blessing from Rev. Jonathan Edwards, then on to Town Hall where Benedict Arnold demands the keys 🔔

“The event concludes with historic artifacts on display at the Parsons’ House — offering a powerful glimpse into Wallingford’s role in the birth of our nation.
