Road Closures Announced For Celebration Events In Wallingford: Police

Police are advising residents of road closures and parking bans that will be in effect for America's 250th Birthday celebration events.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Police are advising residents of several road closures and parking bans that will be in effect for events related to Wallingford’s Celebration of America’s 250th Birthday taking place throughout the weekend.

The following road closures will be in place starting Friday, June 19.

MOVIE NIGHT – FRIDAY, JUNE 19

From approximately 6:30 p.m. to 11 pm:

  • South Main Street, from the intersection of Center Street to the intersection of Prince Street.

PARADE – SATURDAY, JUNE 20

From approximately 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.:

  • North Main Street, from the intersection of Cedar Street and Maplewood Avenue to the intersection of North Street.
  • Maplewood Avenue, from the intersection of North Main Street to the intersection of North Elm Street.

From approximately 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.:

  • North Main Street, from the intersection of North Street to the intersection of Center Street.
  • Simpson Court
  • South Main Street, from the intersection of Prince Street to the intersection of Ward Street.
  • Prince Street, from the intersection of South Main Street to the intersection of South Whittlesey Avenue.

CAR SHOW – SATURDAY, JUNE 20

From approximately 12 noon to 7 p.m:

  • North Main Street, from the intersection of Church Street to the intersection of Center Street.
  • Simpson Court

BLOCK PARTY – SATURDAY, JUNE 20

From approximately 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.:

  • South Main Street, from the intersection of Center Street to the intersection of Prince Street.

FAMILY DAY – SUNDAY, JUNE 21

From approximately 12 noon to 5 p.m.:

  • Christian Street, from the intersection of North Main Street to the intersection of North Elm Street.

Parking Restrictions:

Temporary no parking zones will be in place all three days on the streets noted above. These restrictions will be clearly posted in advance. Vehicles parked in violation will be ticketed and may be towed at the owner's expense.

“We appreciate the community’s cooperation and encourage residents and visitors to plan accordingly,” police wrote in a news release.
