WALLINGFORD, CT — The Sheehan girls basketball team saw its seven-game winning streak come to an end with a 54-44 loss to Sacred Heart Academy in a showdown between two of the top teams in the Southern Connecticut Conference, and the state, Tuesday night in Wallingford.

With the win, the Sharks swept the regular-season series with Sheehan.

The Titans lost to Sacred Heart 44-32 earlier this season in Hamden.

Sacred Heart Academy improved to 13-2 with the win, while Sheehan fell to 13-3.

Senior Maddy Burke scored a game-high 18 points for the Sharks, while Molly Gunning and Mila Harmon each scored 14 points apiece, according to GameTimeCT.com.

Megan Wresien led Sheehan with 17 points.

The Sharks will face town rival Hamden on Friday, Feb. 13 at 7 p.m. at Sacred Heart Academy.

Sheehan will look to get back into the win column against Foran on Thursday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. in Milford.
