Man Killed, Son Hospitalized In Wallingford Plane Crash: UPDATE

The small plane crash occurred Monday night.

WALLINGFORD, CT — One person has been confirmed dead in a small plane crash in Wallingford near the Meriden Markham Municipal Airport on Monday night, according to multiple reports.

Wallingford Police told the Meriden Record-Journal that Joseph Tominelli, 56, of Cheshire, was killed in the crash while his son Daniel Tominelli was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive. (To sign up for Wallingford breaking news alerts and more, click here.)

The Meriden Record-Journal reports two people were on the plane at the time of the crash.

Emergency crews responded to the crash on Hanover Street just before 6:30 p.m., according to WTNH News 8.

WTNH reports Hanover Street has been blocked off and Evansville Avenue in Meriden is closed.

NBC Connecticut reports that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) will be the primary agencies investigating the crash.
