The "Moving Forward Together Virtual 5K" will be held from Friday, Oct. 16th through Sun., Oct. 18th.

WALLINGFORD, CT – The Spanish Community of Wallingford’s Executive Director Adriana Rodríguez recently announced the launch of the organization’s first virtual event that encourages participants to walk, run, or bike their way to 5K. The Moving Forward Together Virtual 5K will be held from Friday, Oct. 16th through Sun., Oct. 18th.

Funds raised will support SCOW’s valuable and much-needed programing. The first 100 registrants will receive a free water bottle and will be entered to win gift cards for local restaurants and large retailers. With a minimum donation of $20, participants can register at https://www.givesignup.org/scow5k.

“When allnex and Röhm, global chemical manufacturers with a local community commitment, learned that SCOW’s annual fundraising wine tasting event was cancelled due to COVID-19, they came to us offering to sponsor a virtual 5K,” Rodríguez said. “We are very grateful that these socially minded companies have initiated this fun event.”

“We’ve heard so many heartbreaking stories from people who are suffering such hardship. All the money raised through this event will be going to help them,” Rodríguez said. “We know that the need will continue long after the pandemic is under control and so will our efforts to help those who need it the most.”

Community partnerships, such as this, serve as the foundation of SCOW’s fundraising efforts.

allnex site manager Frank DiCristina said, “As a long-time supporter of SCOW, allnex-Wallingford wanted to lend a hand, so we are partnering with our corporate neighbor Röhm, and are jointly sponsoring the Moving Forward Together Virtual 5K to raise money for this important community organization. We hope to see many of our neighbors out walking or running for this worthwhile cause.”
