Stronger Student Cellphone Policy Planned In Wallingford
The Wallingford Board of Education is planning on expanding the district's policy on student use of electronic devices, including cellphones
WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford Board of Education is planning on expanding the district’s policy on student use of electronic devices, including cellphones, according to the Meriden Record-Journal. The policy hasn’t been revised since 2003.
The Record-Journal reports that elementary and middle school students would be allowed to possess the devices and use them before and after the school day but they must be shut off and stored away throughout the instructional portion of the day.
Under the policy, high school students would be allowed to use their phones or devices during lunch and passing periods or in “an emergency situation,” according to the Record-Journal.
