Suboxone Arrests on the Rise in Wallingford: Report

The prescription drug is used for pain relief and heroin detoxification but can be dangerous and potentially deadly if abused.

Wallingford Police have seen a spike in arrests for possession of Suboxone, a prescription drug for pain relief and heroin detoxification that can be dangerous and even deadly if abused, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports that Wallingford Police have made seven arrests for the drug this year, including at least three in the past few weeks, compared to only one last year.

Police spokeswoman Lt. Cheryl Bradley told the Record-Journal that in many cases drug users with insurance will get a prescription for Suboxone and sell it (where it typically sells for $5 to $8 per strip on the street) to support their heroin addiction.
