Support Wallingford Girls’ Little League By Partying 80’s Style
Tickets are on sale now for an "Adult Way Back 80's Prom" at Seasons at Traditions Golf Course in Wallingford, with all proceeds going to rebuilding a little league softball shed burned to the ground in 2011.

It’s been two years since a fire completely destroyed a shed at Pragemann Park that housed all of the equipment belonging to the Girls’ Little League Softball of Wallingford.
But, in the seasons since the March 2, 2011 fire, the league has been holding fund raisers and garnering donations toward the construction of a brand new facility, said Scott Weborg, the league’s president.
“The facility that we wish to replace it with is going to be a brand new concession stand, storage facility, meeting house will have handicapped bathrooms,” Weborg said. “It’s going to be a brick and mortar structure with a fire suppression system.”

The fire is still undetermined, Weborg said. While several pieces of equipment were destroyed — including pitching machines, field equipment and an announcement system — the league was able to recover much of the belongings through insurance.
Weborg said he hopes to break ground on the new facility within the next three years. While he laments the loss of the originally shed — which, Weborg said, affects the kids the most — he noted that it was a matter of taking a negative and turning it into a larger positive.
More fundraisers should be happening throughout the year. Check Patch’s Events and Announcements pages to see any upcoming events.
