Three Michigan residents were arrested after police say they were found to be in the possession of 17 fraudulent credit cards.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Three Michigan residents were arrested Sunday night after police say they purchased more than $1,000 worth of gift cards at Walmart with fraudulent credit cards.
Wallingford Police responded to Walmart, located at 844 North Colony Road, at about 10 p.m. on Feb. 12 on the report of individuals attempting to use multiple credit cards at a self-checkout register.
The first arriving officer noticed a vehicle without its headlights illuminated traveling through the Walmart parking lot. The officer then observed a male enter the vehicle and the vehicle quickly exited the lot onto Route 5, according to Sgt. James Cifarelli.

Cifarelli said patrol officers were able to conduct a motor vehicle stop with the suspicious vehicle, a Jeep Cherokee, and saw that two of the occupants matched the descriptions of the males that were in Walmart using the credit cards.
Police conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered 17 credit cards, along with gift cards, that were inside of a fast food soft drink cup, according to Cifarelli.

Cifarelli said five credit cards had the same name, which did not match any of the individuals in the vehicle, and all of which had the same security code located on the back of the card. Two cards were manufactured cards and had no names or numbers, just a magnetic strip and chip, according to Cifarelli.
Police found that the suspects had purchased more than $1,000 worth of gift cards from Walmart.
