WALLINGFORD, CT — The Wallingford Public School District announced Wednesday its Teacher of the Year and Paraeducator of the Year awards for the 2025-26 school year.

“Each year, we have the privilege of recognizing members of our school community whose dedication, passion, and commitment to students exemplify the very best of what Wallingford Public Schools represents,” officials wrote in a post on the school district’s Facebook page. “The Teacher of the Year and Paraeducator of the Year awards honor individuals who go above and beyond every single day — not for recognition, but because they genuinely believe in the potential of every child they serve.”

With over 20 years of experience in Wallingford Public Schools, Alison Gibertoni is the kind of educator who transforms not just classrooms, but lives. Her students know they are seen, valued, and challenged — and their families consistently share that their children have never been more excited about learning. Alison designs instruction that is both rigorous and deeply responsive, blending hands-on experiences, student interests, and research-based practices to make learning meaningful and memorable. Beyond her classroom, she leads her Photography Club — which has grown from 12 to 45 students — mentors student teachers, serves as an adjunct professor, and collaborates with colleagues across the building to strengthen teaching and learning for all. Her warmth, professionalism, and unmatched energy make her classroom a place where curiosity thrives, and every student is inspired to do their best.

Paraeducator of the Year: Crystalin Czentnar, Special Education Paraeducator — Parker Farms Elementary School

Crystalin Czentnar brings extraordinary heart and professionalism to her role as a Special Education Paraeducator on the 4th-grade team at Parker Farms. She refers to her students as "her kids," and that love shows in everything she does — from patiently building confidence in students who struggle to communicate their needs, to maintaining daily behavioral data, to facilitating Book Club discussions that help students share their ideas and engage with peers. Crystalin is a vital and collaborative member of her instructional team, a Union Steward who mentors new paraeducators, and the creative force behind the school's beloved monthly birthday bulletin boards. Her dedication to putting children first, her flexibility in the face of challenges, and her genuine commitment to student growth make her a richly deserving recipient of this honor.
