Teen, 16, Charged In Attempted Armed Robbery: Wallingford Police
The 16-year-old tried to rob a gas station with a weapon that was later determined to be an airsoft rifle, according to police.

WALLINGFORD, CT — A 16-year-old boy was arrested after police said he tried to rob a gas station with a weapon that was later determined to be an airsoft rifle late Tuesday night in Wallingford.
Police responded to Citgo Food Bag at 326 South Colony Road around 11:40 p.m. for a robbery alarm, according to Officer Alex Torres.
Torres said the clerk told officers that the suspect pulled an assault rifle, pointed it at the clerk and told him to fill a bag with all the money in the register.

The clerk talked the juvenile down, and he left without the money and headed northbound on South Colony Road, according to Torres.
Police searched the area and the juvenile was found a short time later in the area of Quinnipiac Street and Washington Street.

Torres said the juvenile had what appeared to be the barrel of a rifle sticking out of his backpack. The juvenile was safely apprehended and officers determined that he was in the possession of an airsoft rifle, according to Torres.
The 16-year-old was arrested and charged with criminal attempt at first-degree robbery, second-degree breach of peace and carrying a dangerous weapon. He was remanded into custody and given a court date of June 22 at the Superior Court for Juvenile Matters in New Haven.
