Thomas 'Tuck' Wall, 89: Lifelong Wallingford Resident Helped Establish North Farms Volunteer Fire Department

Thomas “Tuck” Wall, 89, beloved husband of the late Helen V. (Sheehy) Wall, of Northrop Road, Wallingford, died, peacefully on February 1, 2015.
He was born in his family’s farm house, September 21, 1925, a son of the late Thomas J. and Catherine (McNabola) Wall. He had been a lifelong Wallingford resident.
Thomas was the proprietor of the Erin Isle Dairy Farm in Wallingford, established in 1916, and a parishioner of the Church of the Resurrection. Tom achieved the award of Outstanding Young Farmer by the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1955 and 1956.

Active in politics at the local, state and national level, Tom served the Town of Wallingford as Elected Selectman in 1946 and later was elected to the Town Council in 1964 and served 18 years. He was appointed Chairman from 1970-1974. He was a member of the Democratic Town Committee for many years and was a past Mayoral candidate. He along with local farmers and neighbors in the North Farms Area helped establish the North Farms Volunteer F.D. in 1946 where he was an honorary member. His dedication to farming led him to serve on the New Building Committee and the expansion committee for the Lyman Hall High School Vo-Ag Program and was a member of the Holstein-Friesian Association of America.
Tom also worked in Real Estate, owning Thomas J. Wall Associates and later with Jay Realty Inc. and also help found the Holy Trinity School P.T.A. In 2005 Tom was honored by the Wallingford Education Foundation as a Distinguished Alumni.
He is survived by his daughter, Kathryn J. Wall of Wallingford; his four sons, Thomas M. Wall Jr. and his wife Joan of Wallingford, Terrance J. Wall and his wife Kimberly of Durham, Timothy S. Wall, and Michael E. Wall and Megan McCloskey, all of Wallingford; his five grandchildren, Kevin Wall, Kiara Megan Storm and her husband Justin, Kaylene Wall, Matthew Wall III and Ryan Wall; his sister, May Skinnon; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Patrick M. Wall; his brother, John J. Wall; and his sister, Helen Theis.
His family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street, Ext., Wallingford, Friday, February 6, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, at 9 a.m. from The Wallingford Funeral Home, when the funeral cortege will proceed to the Church of the Resurrection where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford. In lieu of flowers gifts in his memory may be sent to Holy Trinity School, 11 No. Whittlesey Ave., Wallingford, CT 06492, or North Farms Volunteer Fire Department, 636 Barnes Rd., Wallingford, CT 06492.
