Traffic Advisory: Wallingford Family YMCA Road Race

Police are advising motorists to take alternate routes during the upcoming Wallingford Family YMCA Road Race.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Police advising residents to use alternate routes during the upcoming Wallingford Family YMCA Road Race, which will take place at about 9 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 6.

The race starts on South Elm Street in the vicinity of the YMCA and Doolittle Park and ends on South Main Street at Celebrate Wallingford. The road race utilizes South Main Street, Pond Hill Road, Northfield Road, Sylvan Avenue and South Main Street, among other nearby roadways as runners negotiate a 5K or 10K race route, according to Lt. Anthony DeMaio.

“We ask motorists to please avoid these roadways, if possible, during the short duration road race, and use extreme caution if you must drive these roadways as you can expect to encounter runners in the roadway and minor traffic delays,” DeMaio wrote in a press release.
