Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Bust in Wallingford

Two people were arrested after police were alerted to a driver asleep at the wheel who later awoke and was driving erratically.

A traffic stop led to the arrest of two Massachusetts residents on several drug charges last Friday morning in Wallingford, according to the Meriden Record-Journal.

The Record-Journal reports James Richards, 36, and Marie Harmon, 31, both of Winchendon, Mass., were both arrested after police received a report of a driver asleep at the wheel in the area of Route 68 and North Branford Road at about 11:18 a.m. on Nov. 27.

The driver, Richards, woke up and was driving erratically as police were responding, according to the Record-Journal. Richards later allegedly admitted to police that he had smoked marijuana.

Police searched the vehicle and found drugs including heroin, prescription pills and marijuana and both Richards and Harmon were placed under arrest, according to the Record-Journal.
