Downed Wires Close Road In Wallingford: Police

WALLINGFORD, CT — Police are advising motorists of a road closure due to several downed wires and utility poles that were struck by a truck.

Old Colony Road is closed from Oak Street to the Meriden town line due to several telephone poles and electrical wires down that are blocking the road, according Lt. Stephen Jaques.

Police are advising motorists to avoid the area.

Jaques said a roll-off truck struck some wires in the area that caused several telephone poles and their attached power lines to fall into the roadway.

“No injuries have been reported,” Jaques wrote in an email. “The Wallingford Police Department and Electric Division are on the scene working to clear the roadway.”
