Unsung Hero: Nick Barbieri, Wallingford
Wallingford Patch debuts this new periodic column, which features young student-athletes who go above and beyond.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Today we inaugurate a new periodic series on Wallingford Patch, highlighting young student-athletes who are considered "unsung heroes." They are not necessarily the big star, but rather one who works hard, is a good student, is a positive influence and strives for the betterment of his or her school and/or community.
Name: Nick Barbieri
School: Sheehan High School, grade 12
Sport: football
Nominated by: Robert Satton
"Nick was a varsity football player who improved greatly on the field during his four years of playing, growing not only in skill but in maturity as well. Nick is an inspiration to the younger students - not only the younger football players, but also other students in the school. He stays involved with other sporting activities as well as being a hard worker outside of school, always willing to lend a hand to anybody who needs help. He is an outstanding big brother to his siblings. Nicholas is one of the most mature, well-rounded and focused 18 year olds that you're going to find. His parents are very proud of him and he is well thought of in the school."
