Chastain is part of Liberty Mutual's U.S. Olympic and Paralympic sponsorship.

U.S. Women’s Soccer legend Brandi Chastain was in Wallingford Wednesday to visit sponsor Liberty Mutual’s office on Barnes Road.
Chastain, who won gold medals in 1996 and 2004 and a silver medal in 2000 and scored the game-winning goal in the FIFA World Cup championship in 1999, is part of Liberty Mutual’s U.S. Olympic and Paralympic sponsorship.
Chastain, 46, is still active in soccer, playing for the California Storm of the Women’s Premier Soccer League, and coaches her 8-year-old son’s team and helps her husband Jerry Smith at Santa Clara University and she is also a first-year assistant coach of a varsity boys high school team in San Jose, according to the New Haven Register.

Chastain told Joe Morelli of the New Haven Register that the 1999 victory “doesn’t seem like 15 years (ago). It’s amazing how fast time flies. The Women’s World Cup seems like it just happened. It was a moment a lot of people watched or shared in a way they never watched or shared in before.”
