Volunteers To Repair Homes For Those In Need In Wallingford

About 70 homes will be repaired by volunteers during Wallingford Workcamp this summer. Fundraising efforts are underway for the event.

WALLINGFORD, CT — This summer, up to 500 youth and adult volunteers will visit Wallingford for Wallingford Workcamp 2018— a community-wide effort to perform hands-on repairs to houses of elderly, low-income or disabled families who can’t financially or physically do the work themselves. Workcamp, which is organized by the First Congregational Church of Wallingford, will take place the week of July 8-14 with volunteers staying at Sheehan High School. While the summer may seem a long ways off, planning for Workcamp 2018 is well underway and fundraising is needed for the event to be a success.

About 60 to 70 houses will be repaired during the event with the repairs ranging from building wheelchair ramps to painting. The work will be done at no cost to homeowners regardless of their faith, according to organizers.

First Congregational Church is partnering with Group Mission Trips for Wallingford Workcamp 2018. Group Mission Trips has logged 13,000,000 volunteer hours and has had 450,000 participants working in projects like Wallingford's over the years.
