Wallingford Animal Control Wants Recently Adopted Dog Returned

The dog was adopted from the shelter on Monday and then sold on Craigslist.

Wallingford Animal Control is asking for the public’s help in having a dog that was recently adopted returned to the shelter.

According to the Wallingford Animal Control’s Facebook page, the dog (pictured) was a resident of the shelter until his stray hold period was up and he was adopted on Monday. Then on Friday, the department became aware of an ad on Craigslist to sell him. The adopter was immediately contacted but the dog was already gone.

“We are unsure of his whereabouts and are extremely worried for his safety,” Wallingford Animal Control posted on its Facebook page. “We would appreciate speaking with his new owners and knowing that he is alright. Craig’s List is a very dangerous place for animals so please SHARE his pic and story in hopes we can locate him and find him safe.

“Please Note: An adoption application, reference checks and a home visit were all done prior to him leaving the shelter. We also discuss with every adopter, throughout the adoption process, that should at anytime the animal is no longer a fit in the family ... They are to be returned to us.”
