Wallingford Businesses Cited In Tobacco Compliance Checks
Several clerks were fined for illegally selling tobacco products to underage youth, according to police.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Six Wallingford businesses were cited for illegally selling tobacco products to anyone under the age of 21 during unannounced compliance checks on Tuesday, according to police.
The Wallingford Police Department’s Community Impact Unit, along with the Connecticut Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services Tobacco Prevention and Enforcement Program conducted unannounced compliance inspections of establishments that sell tobacco products and/or electronic cigarettes.
The inspections were performed in an effort to determine compliance with state laws concerning the prohibition of the sale of e-cigarettes and/or tobacco products to youth under the age of 21, according to police.

The following businesses were not in compliance and the offending clerks were issued a first-time $300 infraction, according to police.

- Puff City, 722 North Colony Road
- Wallingford Tobacco, 898 North Colony Road
- Tobacco World, 994 North Colony Road
- Shell Food Mart, 1059 North Colony Road
- Sunoco Food Mart, 440 Main Street
