Town Council

The single most pressing issue facing our town/district is _______, and this is what I intend to do about it.

There isn't just one. The basic services a town provides include maintaining its infrastructure (buildings, roads and parks), public safety and education, and the emerging needs surrounding those essential elements. The common element to those is funding all of those needs while maintaining reasonable rates for tax payers.

What are the critical differences between you and the other candidates seeking this post?

Prior to serving as part of Wallingford's government, I worked for five years as an assistant town attorney. I brought an understanding from another community to my position here in Wallingford. Now, I have institutional experience which enables me to be very effective in my current position.

List other issues that define your campaign platform:

Keeping taxes reasonable while continuing to maintain appropriate and effective town services.

What accomplishments in your past would you cite as evidence you can handle this job?

As chairman, I have coordinated fireworks funding through private contributions for the past four Independence Day Celebrations. I assisted a member of the North Main Street neighborhood in getting the street closed for Halloween night. I have overseen the council for the past three terms as they have continued to keep taxes low. I have supported councilors as they've explored their own ways of providing new or different services to town residents. I have worked with Tim Ryan and the Economic Development Commission to maintain business vitality in Wallingford.

The best advice ever shared with me was ...

Be a good listener.

What else would you like voters to know about yourself and your positions?

My perspective is further enlightened by my regular contact with members of the community and my involvement in arts. I make time to play guitar in local bands.
