In this new series, Patch features outstanding members of the community that go above and beyond to give them the recognition they deserve.
Today we feature Renee Rossi, a local teacher who has made a difference, sent in by Nicole Kesilewski.
Who is your favorite teacher?
Renee Rossi.
Where does she teach?
She’s a Kindergarten teacher at E.C. Stevens school.
Why is she your favorite?
She’s been there for almost 20 years and was my daughter’s teacher last year. She helped both of us ease into the school life. My daughter wasn’t enrolled in any programs before starting kindergarten. We spent our days together and with family. It was a big transition for us, and Miss Rossi was the most amazing first ever teacher for my daughter. She was kind, loving, and my daughter went to school every day excited to learn.
She is very creative and made homework and project time fun! She sent home amazingly thoughtful gifts for Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and Christmas. If I had any questions or concerns, she would respond immediately. And when it came time for my daughter to move on, she lobbied for my daughter and her best friend to be kept together in first grade. (It worked!!) She got my daughter’s education off to the best start possible and I will be forever grateful for that. Even now, she’s quick to hug her when she sees her. The love and affection is mutual. We need more teachers like her!
