Wallingford Coronavirus Update: Confirmed Cases Grows To 86

As is the case statewide, the number of coronavirus diagnoses is growing in Wallingford, where the caseload has more than doubled recently.

WALLINGFORD, CT — The number of confirmed cases of the new coronavirus has more than doubled in Wallingford in the past week, according to data from state health officials. As of Monday, there are now 86 cases in Wallingford as opposed to just 30 on April 6. Statewide, the number of positive cases jumped to 13,381 on Monday – an increase of 1,346 and the statewide death toll grew to 601, which represents an increase of 48 from Sunday.

In New Haven County, there are now 3,358 cases and 135 deaths while 580 people remain hospitalized. According to state health officials, New Haven County’s caseload trails only Fairfield County, where there are 6,004 known confirmed cases (44.8 percent of the statewide total) and 262 deaths.

Among the Wallingford cases is an employee at an Amazon sortation center in late March when cases locally were just beginning to grow.
