Wallingford Family YMCA Presents “Safety Around Water Week”: April 10 - 13, 2017

The Y's "Safety Around Water" program teaches children of all ages and from all backgrounds that water should be fun, not feared.

May is National Water Safety Month and the Wallingford Family YMCA Presents "Safety Around Water Week": April 10 - 13, 2017

The Y is about youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We also know that swimming is a life skill. This 4 session course teaches kids water safety skills that help reduce the risk of drowning. It is open to anyone in the community (not limited to Wallingford residents). It is meant for kids who can not usually afford swim lessons. There are four groups (Preschool, Kindergarten, Grade 1, Grade 2) and two classes available per group - Preschool & Kindergarten (ages 3-5 with no parental assistance) lessons are at 6:00 or 6:30PM. Grades 1 & 2 (ages 6-8) lessons are at 7:00 or 7:30PM. Cost is $10 per participant. As part of this initiative, if you qualify for free/reduced lunch, you can apply for scholarship for swim lessons. YMCA members and swim lesson participants can register starting April 3.

As a leading charitable organization committed to youth development, the Wallingford Family Y has been a leader in providing swim lessons and water safety for more than 70 years and continues to help youth and adults experience the joy and benefits of swimming, so they can be healthy, confident and secure in the water. To ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate, financial assistance is available to those in need to help cover the costs.
