Wallingford Makes Decision On School For Friday
The Board of Education will decide at its meeting Monday night when the dates for graduation and the last day of school will be.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford Public Schools will be closed for a third straight day on Friday, May 18, as the cleanup from Tuesday’s major storm continues around town. There are still 20 key roads closed due to the storm, according to Superintendent of Schools Dr. Sal Menzo.
Menzo said the decision to close school for a third straight day was made following a meeting with the Mayor, the Electric Division, the Police Department, the Fire Department, and Public Works.
“The consensus was we need to remain closed so that the town crews can continue their restoration work tomorrow and over the weekend,” Menzo said in an email to parents.

The Board of Education will decide at Monday night’s meeting when graduation and the last day of school for students and staff will be.
“With all of that said, I will also be recommending to the Board of Education Monday night that graduation and the last day of school for students and staff remains Friday, June 22, 2018,” Menzo said in the email. “The weather-related events were neither predictable or unavoidable. By relieving students of these 3 days, we still are in compliance with Connecticut’s 180 school day requirement.”
