Wallingford Man Charged with Carjacking Accused of Injuring Another Officer While at Hospital
Sereymanta Kong, 22, who led police on a wild chase in New Jersey, reportedly became combative while being treated at the hospital.
The Wallingford man accused of carjacking a woman’s Mercedes Benz, stealing a police cruiser, ramming at least four police cars and injuring at least three officers during a wild chase in northern New Jersey is facing another charge after allegedly injuring another officer while at the hospital.
NorthJersey.com reports Sereymanta Kong, 22, “became combative” as a nurse tried to give him medication at the Bergen Regional Medical Center on Monday and a sheriff’s officer who was guarding him fell to the ground while restraining Kong and was treated at a medical facility for a shoulder injury.
Kong was arrested on Sunday following a wild chase that began around 3:45 p.m. when a woman was driving her two children, an 11-year-old boy and a 13-year-old girl, in her Mercedes Benz and found Kong lying in the middle of the road while holding a water bottle and he appeared to be choking, according to the Cliff View Pilot.

Kong then led police on a 22-minute chase with Kong allegedly twice ramming a police cruiser, according to NorthJersey.com. Kong and the officer eventually exited the vehicles and a struggle ensued and Kong managed to make his way into the cruiser and drove off, the website reports.
Another low-speed chase ensued and officers observed Kong wearing the officer’s hat and sticking his tongue out before another cruiser bumped the car Kong was driving sending it onto the lawn of a car dealership and resulting in Kong’s arrest, according to the Cliff View Pilot.
Kong is being held on a $1 million bond.
