Wallingford Man Dies After ‘Tragic Accident’ At Workplace, Family Says

WALLINGFORD, CT — A Wallingford man who recently died after a workplace accident is being remembered for always lending a “helping hand” to family and friends.

Neil F. Crook, 60, died Aug. 16 from “injuries suffered in a tragic accident at his workplace,” according to his obituary.

“Neil worked as a well-versed diesel mechanic with expert knowledge in automotive, motorcycle, heavy equipment and marine engines,” the obituary reads. “He knew it all and mastered it over the course of his lifetime. Neil was always willing to lend a helping hand to family and friends. If Neil couldn’t fix it no one could.”

The Record-Journal reports that an investigation into Crook’s workplace death is being conducted by the U.S. Coast Guard. His cause of death is “pending further studies” by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, according to the Record-Journal.

Crook also held positions with Plunske’s Garage, Tilcon, White Oak Construction Company, and D. Brake Marine and was a member of Local 478 International Union of Operating Engineers, according to his obituary.

“He was a loving and proud uncle to his nieces and nephews and loved them like his own,” the obituary reads. “He gave unconditional love to all.”
