Wallingford manufacturer helps with Maui wildfire response
Battery-powered Laveo portable waterless toilets don't need electrical power or plumbing, and provide sanitation to victims and volunteers.
In the aftermath of horrific wildfires, Waterless Toilets, a manufacturer based at 126 South Turnpike Road, is helping victims and volunteers 5,000 miles away on the island of Maui, Hawaii. The company has a customer, Suite Vans Maui, which normally rents campervans to vacationers and sightseers. However, for disaster relief, Lindsay Ginest, owner of Suite Vans Maui, has been generously providing campervans for victims and volunteers. She recently sent this testimonial note to Waterless Toilets owner Doug Rice.
"Dear Doug," she says, "You have made a tremendous impact on the relief effort here on Maui. I can’t even begin to put into words how important your product has been during our recovery process. Something as simple as going to the restroom was a problem for thousands of people, and the immediate response of Waterless Toilets provided us with solutions.
Our island was in panic, resources depleting, and you answered our call for help. The YMCA in Maui provided parking for over 20 camper vehicles available for the families that were displaced by the fire and American Red Cross members.
