Wallingford Police Charge New Haven Man With Gun And Drug Offenses

During his arrest, the New Haven man attempted to hide approximately 7.2 grams of crack cocaine​ in the waistband of his pants, police said.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Police charged a New Haven man with drug and weapon offenses following a traffic stop last week.

At 11:18 p.m. on Thursday, police reported a 2004 Oldsmobile Alero traveling eastbound on Old Colony Road, missing its rear license plate.

After stopping the car, police say they discovered it was not registered, not insured, and had a misuse registration number written on cardboard and positioned in the back window. The driver, Sinclair Lesean Humphrey, 38, of East Ferry Street in New Haven, was also not licensed, according to a report from Wallingford police officer Alex Torres.

During his arrest, Humphrey attempted to hide approximately 7.2 grams of crack cocaine in the waistband of his pants, according to police. The drugs were held in two plastic bags with multiple prepackaged baggies for street level resale, police said.

Humphrey was also had in possession of a .25 caliber automatic firearm, drug paraphernalia and $495 in cash, according to the police report.

Police charged Humphrey with carrying a pistol without a permit, sale of a narcotic substance, possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle, possession of drug paraphernalia, misuse of marker plates, driving an unregistered motor vehicle, failure to display number plates and stickers, driving without a license, driving without insurance, and failure to drive right. He was held on a $25,000 surety bond.
