Wallingford Police To Participate In ‘No-Shave November’

Police officers will be allowed to grow their facial hair for a good cause.

WALLINGFORD, CT — If you see some scruffy-looking police officers in November, it’s for a good cause. Typically, police officers must be clean shaven with minor exceptions. However, from Nov. 1 through Nov. 30, the Wallingford Police Department will be participating in “No-Shave November” and officers will be growing their facial hair to bring awareness and support to cancer research and education. Each officer will be donating a minimum of $50 to the Matthew Hill Foundation to participate and be allowed to grow their facial hair.

No-Shave November's mission is to not only raise funds for cancer research and treatment but to educate the population about preventative measures.

“For over six years, participants around the globe have put down their razors and foregone their hair appointments to join the fight against cancer,” police wrote in a press release. “This year the Wallingford Police Department will be part of that effort. The No-Shave November campaign has successfully raised over $3.5 million dollars to combat this disease. Every dollar raised brings us one step closer to fund cancer research and education, help prevent the disease, and aid those fighting the battle. Each whisker grown allows us to embrace our hair, which many cancer patients lose during treatment.

On Dec. 1, Dino’s Modern Barbershop, located at 202 Center Street, is joining the Wallingford Police Department in spreading awareness of this disease by donating their time to shave participating officers.
