Wallingford Resident Named CBA Secretary
Attorney Christine Jean-Louis will serve as secretary of the Connecticut Bar Association.

Beginning July 1, Attorney Christine Jean-Louis will serve as secretary of the Connecticut Bar Association (CBA) during the 2015-2016 bar year.
As Assistant Attorney General with the Attorney General’s Office, Transportation Department, Attorney Jean-Louis represents various state agencies concerning transportation issues within the State of Connecticut, including construction and maintenance of state highways and roads. Prior to that, she was an associate at Wiggin and Dana LLP s Litigation Department, where her practice focused on contract disputes, franchise, antitrust, and commercial litigation.
Attorney Jean-Louis’ activities in the association include member of the Diversity Committee as well as the Federal Practice; Franchise, Distribution & Dealer Law; and Litigation Sections. She also serves on the House of Delegates for District 9.

In addition, she is chair of the Diversity Committee for the New Haven County Bar Association, member of New Haven Inn of Court, and board member of both the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and UConn Law School’s Alumni Association. Attorney Jean-Louis is chair of the Technology Committee for the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association and also served as its president (2010-2011).
The CBA is governed by a Board of Governors and House of Delegates. The House of Delegates is its primary decision-making and policy-making body, while the Board of Governors is its administrative board that is responsible for budgetary and financial matters other than setting annual dues. There are also seven officer positions held by members of the association for a one-year term. The seven positions are president, immediate past president, president-elect, vice president, secretary, treasurer, and assistant secretary-treasurer.

As secretary of the CBA, Attorney Jean-Louis records the proceedings of the House of Delegates and prepares the minutes. She also provides the members of the Board of Governors and House of Delegates with copies of the annual reports of sections and committees of the association.
