Wallingford Resident Named GNAC Men’s Soccer Rookie Of The Week

The Lyman Hall graduate is a freshman on the Albertus Magnus College men's soccer team.

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford’s Yahya Kardad, a freshman on the Albertus Magnus College men’s soccer team, was named the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Men's Soccer Rookie of the Week, officials announced Monday.

Kardad, a Lyman Hall graduate, finished last week tied for the team lead with two points and one goal to go along with seven shots, as the Falcons split a pair of GNAC matches. Kardad started both games for Albertus Magnus, scoring the Falcons’ lone goal against Johnson & Wales (R.I.) University on Wednesday in a hard-fought 2-1 Albertus loss.

Kardad also finished Saturday's 2-0 Falcons' win over Colby-Sawyer College tied for the team lead with four shots.

Kardad was a four-time All-SCC honoree at Lyman Hall and was named a team captain in his junior and senior seasons.
