Wallingford Resident Named Young Coach Of The Year By CJSA

The Sheehan graduate is being recognized for her work with the North Branford Soccer Club after coaching youth soccer players from 3U to 14U

WALLINGFORD, CT — Wallingford’s Kelsey Burr, a Sheehan graduate and current member of the Southern Connecticut State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Thomas E. Krusewski Young Coach of the Year by the Connecticut Junior Soccer Association.

Burr, a senior standout for the Owls, will be presented with the award at CJSA's Annual Awards Dinner on April 1.

"I'm truly grateful for this award and I couldn't have done this without the support of my family, coaches, friends, teammates and my youth players," Burr said in a news release.

Burr led Southern in 2021 with a team-high four goals and nine points as the Owls returned to the Northeast-10 Conference Championship Game for the second-straight season. Burr now has seven goals and three assists for her career after scoring three times and assisting on two more as a freshman in 2018.

Burr will be recognized for her work with the North Branford Soccer Club after coaching youth soccer players from 3U to 14U. Burr has coached in numerous training clinics and camps throughout the New Haven area while coaching with Dave Dikranian, East Haven Soccer, Everson Soccer and Wallingford Soccer, which included work with the TOPS program.
