Wallingford’s Public High Schools Rank Among CT’s Top 100: Niche
Both Sheehan and Lyman Hall rank among the top 100 public high schools in the state, according to the latest Niche rankings.
WALLINGFORD, CT — Sheehan and Lyman Hall high schools both ranked in the top 100 for Niche's annual best Connecticut public high schools list.
Mark T. Sheehan High School ranked 76th. Its overall Niche grade was a B+. It received a B for academics and college prep, a B+ for diversity, a B- for teachers, an A- for clubs and activities and a C+ for administration.
Lyman Hall ranked 95th. Its overall Niche grade was a B+. It received a B for academics and college prep, a B+ for diversity and clubs and activities, a B- for teachers, and a C+ for administration.

Niche said its rankings differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
Niche said its rankings were created to provide families with valuable information — both quantitative and qualitative — on schools in their area or in a neighborhood they’re not familiar with yet.

As in previous years, the Best Schools rankings include categories for boarding, charter and magnet schools as well as schools for STEM and the arts among many others.
